A bold, festive necklace set built around large glossy red Monalisa stones, white pearls and clusters of little ghungroo bells. It comes with a matching pair of earrings and ties on an adjustable thread, so it can sit as a choker or a little lower. This listing shows the red set; it is also available in Blue, Green, Black and Sea Green.
The centre of the necklace is an oval red stone set inside a double ring of tiny pearls. On either side, large pear-shaped red stones in plain golden bezels alternate with round white pearls, and from the lower edge hang bunches of golden ghungroo bells, one of them finished with a larger cream pearl. The thread at the back is a golden cord with small pearl and bead tassels. The earrings repeat the design: a pearl stud, a curled golden frame, a large red drop stone and a fringe of bells with a pearl at the end.
This set is made for colourful celebrations: Navratri, Diwali, haldi and mehendi. Wear it with a plain silk or cotton saree, a lehenga or a simple kurta so the big red stones stand out. White, cream, green and mustard outfits make the red especially vivid. Keep bangles simple, as the necklace and earrings already carry the look.
The necklace sits around the base of the neck and ties with an adjustable thread, so it can be worn snug like a choker or loosened to sit lower. The earrings are medium-length statement drops with push-back studs. The set is a substantial festive piece but comfortable for an evening of celebrations.
This is brass with a gold-tone plating rather than solid gold, which keeps the price where it is and the weight low enough to wear comfortably. Plating is a surface rather than a bulk property, so how long it lasts depends almost entirely on what it meets — perfume, hairspray and sweat all shorten it, while a dry cloth after wearing and a closed pouch between wearings extend it considerably.
Put this on after perfume, hairspray and hand cream, and take it off before washing, swimming or sleeping. Wipe with a dry soft cloth and use a dry soft brush around the stone settings and between any pearls, where a cloth cannot reach. Store it in a zip-lock pouch — which is what the supplier themselves advise, and the single most effective thing for a plated piece, because it keeps humid air off the metal. Never use silver polish, dip cleaners or an ultrasonic cleaner.
