This tribal kada is sold as a single piece and is the most distinctive thing in this range. Across the front sit three geometric enamel panels, a yellow diamond, a red band and a green and red segmented fan, each outlined in silver and surrounded by dense clusters of tiny silver beads. Small bells hang from either end of the arrangement. It belongs to the old enamel-on-silver tradition of western India rather than to the polished bridal styles most kadas follow, and it looks handmade because it is.
The enamel here is not the fine painterly meenakari of a gold bangle; it is bolder and flatter, laid into deep geometric cells with the silver ribs left standing proud between the colours. Yellow, red and green are the traditional tribal palette, and the segmented fan in the centre is divided into alternating red and green wedges radiating from a point, a motif borrowed from textile and mirror work. Around every panel, granulation is built up in rows: individual silver balls applied one by one, which is what gives the piece its rough, tactile edge. Tiny bells hang on short links at both ends and move audibly as you walk. The band behind is plain and lightly hammered.
This wants plain, textured cloth behind it: khadi, handloom cotton, linen, or an indigo or black kurta. It would look wrong with silk or anything bridal. Wear it entirely alone on a bare wrist, because the granulation and bells are easily lost beside another bangle, and pair it with oxidised studs rather than anything gold. It is a collector's piece as much as an everyday one.
Festivals, exhibitions and craft fairs, handloom and khadi dressing, folk and classical performances, and gifting to someone who collects tribal or ethnic silver.
This design is adjustable rather than fixed: it opens on a screw so the same piece fits a range of wrists, which is why no size needs to be chosen at checkout. Open it only as far as the hand needs and close it gently, because repeatedly forcing an adjustable bangle wider is what eventually weakens the joint.
If you are unsure whether it will suit a particularly slim or broad wrist, ask us on WhatsApp before ordering and we will check the opening range for you.
Enamel is glass and chips on impact, and granulation catches on knitwear, so treat this piece more carefully than a plain kada: take it off before anything strenuous and store it alone in a soft pouch. Clean with a dry soft brush only, never water or liquid polish, both of which get under the enamel edges and behind the granulation where they cannot be dried out.
