A slim, round bangle finished in soft pastel enamel, with small flowers running around the band and a hinge and clasp at the base so it opens to go on. Two colourways are stocked: Aqua and Yellow. The photographs show the aqua, which carries pink and lilac flowers against a soft blue-green ground.
Available colours: Aqua, Yellow. Pick the shade on the swatches above; stock is held separately for each, so availability can differ between them.
Enamel is the reason this one looks different from everything else on the shelf. The colour is not paint and it is not a coating that sits on top — it is powdered glass fused to the metal under heat, which is why it has that faint depth to it rather than reading flat. It is the same family of work as Jaipur meenakari, simplified and industrialised, but the principle is identical.
The flowers are kept small and scattered rather than massed, which is what stops a pastel bangle looking like a child's piece. Pink and lilac on aqua is a spring palette, deliberately soft, and it sits better against cotton and linen than against heavy silk.
Because it is slim it stacks well. Two or three together, or one alongside a watch, reads better than this bangle worn alone on a bare wrist.
Anti-tarnish is a coating, not a metal. The body underneath is brass, and brass left bare reacts with the moisture and sulphur in ordinary air until the surface dulls and your skin marks green. An anti-tarnish piece carries a clear barrier layer over the plating that keeps air off the metal, so the colour holds for far longer than it would on an uncoated piece. It is a real improvement and it is also finite: the coating wears where the piece rubs, and once it is through, the brass behaves like brass again.
Underneath everything this is brass, which is why it has some heft in the hand. That weight is a good sign at this price point — hollow, feather-light costume jewellery is usually thin plate over something that will bend out of shape.
Treat the finish as the part that wears. Dress first and put this on last, take it off before water, and give it a wipe with a dry cotton cloth afterwards. A zip pouch with the air squeezed out is genuinely the best storage, because it keeps humid air off the metal. No polishes, no dips, no ultrasonic cleaners.
If you are buying it for someone else, the fit is the easy part — this is a standard adult wrist size and it opens rather than needing to be pushed over the hand.
What you see photographed is what ships. Colour on a screen is never exact — golds in particular look warmer on some phones than others — so treat the photo as close rather than perfect.
