This oxidised kada is sold as a single piece and carries two star heads rather than one central motif. Each star is built from five square mint green stones arranged around a small round stone at the centre, and the two face each other across the opening at the front. Pale mint against darkened silver is a softer combination than the usual red or green, and it gives the piece a quieter, more contemporary look.
The stars work because of the stone shape. Five squares set corner outward produce a five-pointed outline without any metal having to be cut to that shape, so the star reads cleanly and the silver only appears as thin walls between the stones. At the centre of each sits a round cabochon in the same mint, slightly domed where the squares are flat, which gives the head a little depth. Behind each star the shank is wrapped in a coil of fine wire and then runs out into a plain smooth band. Having two heads rather than one means the kada looks decorated from both sides of the wrist, not only from above.
Mint is a daytime colour, so this suits cotton, linen and handloom in cream, white, grey or soft pastels better than a heavy festive outfit. It is slim enough to stack with plain silver bangles, and because the decoration sits at both sides it works whichever way the kada settles on the wrist. Keep earrings small and silver rather than gold.
Everyday and office wear, college, daytime outings, handloom and craft-fair dressing, and gifting to someone who likes softer colours than traditional red and green.
This design is adjustable rather than fixed: it opens on a screw so the same piece fits a range of wrists, which is why no size needs to be chosen at checkout. Open it only as far as the hand needs and close it gently, because repeatedly forcing an adjustable bangle wider is what eventually weakens the joint.
If you are unsure whether it will suit a particularly slim or broad wrist, ask us on WhatsApp before ordering and we will check the opening range for you.
Flat square stones show smears more readily than domed ones, so wipe them with a dry soft cloth after wearing. Open the kada only as far as your hand needs, keep it away from water, perfume and sanitiser, and never use metal polish, which strips the oxidised darkening between the stones.
