This oxidised kada is sold as a single piece and is the most unusual design in the range: a stag head modelled in silver sits at the front, its antlers curving back along the band and a pale green stone set into each ear. Animal-form jewellery is a long tradition in Indian tribal silver, though the deer is far less common than the elephant or the peacock, which is what makes this piece stand out.
The head is sculpted in the round rather than stamped flat, with a defined muzzle, raised brow and a smooth tapering face, and it faces outward so it reads correctly when the kada is on the wrist. The antlers are the technically difficult part: they branch twice on each side and are left open, so you can see through them, which is considerably harder to cast than a solid shape. The two green stones are marquise cut, set where the ears would sit, angled outward to follow the line of the antlers. Either side of the head the shank is wrapped in a short coil of fine wire, and beyond that it runs out into a plain smooth band with a small dome at the tip.
This is a conversation piece and works best where it can be seen, so wear it on a bare wrist with a rolled or short sleeve rather than under a cuff. It suits denim, linen and cotton particularly well, and reads as contemporary rather than traditional, so it sits happily with western clothing. Keep other jewellery minimal and let the stag be the only figurative piece you are wearing.
Everyday and casual wear, college, travel, exhibitions and craft fairs, and gifting to someone who likes animal motifs or unusual jewellery rather than conventional stone work.
This design is adjustable rather than fixed: it opens on a screw so the same piece fits a range of wrists, which is why no size needs to be chosen at checkout. Open it only as far as the hand needs and close it gently, because repeatedly forcing an adjustable bangle wider is what eventually weakens the joint.
If you are unsure whether it will suit a particularly slim or broad wrist, ask us on WhatsApp before ordering and we will check the opening range for you.
The antlers are open and finely branched, which is the vulnerable part: do not let the kada sit loose in a bag where an antler can be bent or caught. Store it on its own in a soft pouch. Open the band only as far as your hand needs, clean with a dry soft brush around the head, and keep it away from water and perfume.
