This is a set of four thin oxidised bangles, each hung with small ghungroo bells along its length. Two on each wrist is the usual way to wear them, and the bells are the whole reason the set exists: they sound with every movement of the hand, which is a deliberate feature of folk and dance jewellery rather than an ornament added for looks. It is offered in five sizes, the widest range of any product in this range.
Each band is slim and carries a raised textured strip along its outer face, and from that strip the bells hang on short links in loose clusters, spaced so they can swing without tangling into each other. The bells themselves are the traditional round ghungroo shape with a slit across the base, tiny but properly hollow, which is why they ring rather than clatter. The oxidised finish is darker in the recesses of the textured strip so the bells, which stay brighter where they knock together, stand out against it. Because the bells hang below the band, these sit slightly differently from a plain bangle, resting a little lower on the wrist.
Bell bangles belong with handloom, khadi and cotton, and with anything folk or festival rather than formal. They are made for movement, so they show best with sleeves that end above the wrist. Wear two on each side, or all four on one arm for a louder effect. They pair naturally with oxidised jhumkas and with other bell jewellery such as anklets.
Navratri and garba, folk and classical dance, festivals, craft fairs and exhibitions, and gifting to someone who performs or simply likes jewellery you can hear.
This design is made in sizes 2.2, 2.4, 2.6, 2.8 and 2.10. Indian bangle sizes count upward, so a 2.4 is a smaller fit than a 2.6 and a 2.8 is larger again, with 2.6 the size most women take. These slip on over the hand rather than opening on a hinge or a screw, so choosing correctly matters more here than it would on an adjustable bangle.
The reliable way to find your size is to take a bangle that already fits you, measure straight across the inside from edge to edge, and match that against a bangle size chart. If you do not own one, bring your thumb across to the base of your little finger as though you were slipping a bangle on, wrap a strip of paper snugly around the widest part of that shape, mark where it overlaps and measure it flat. If you fall between two sizes take the larger one: a bangle that will not pass the hand cannot be worn at all, while a slightly loose one still sits well. Send us your measurement on WhatsApp and we will confirm the size before the order is taken.
The bells are the delicate part: they hang on small links that can be pulled open if a bell catches on knitwear or a bag strap, so put these on last and take them off before anything that might snag. Store the set flat in a pouch rather than hanging, keep them dry, and clean with a dry soft brush which reaches between the bells where a cloth cannot.
