This oxidised kada is sold as a single piece and is built around one flower head on an otherwise plain wire. Eight black marquise stones radiate from a round black centre stone, with small silver grains between the petal tips, and the rest of the kada is a fine smooth shank that all but disappears on the wrist. Black against oxidised silver is an unusually restrained combination for Indian jewellery, and it is what makes this piece easy to wear on an ordinary day.
Each petal is a marquise stone, pointed at both ends, set in a close bezel so the black surface sits almost flush with the silver around it. The stones are faceted rather than domed, so they catch light in sharp glints instead of glowing, which keeps the flower from looking heavy despite its dark colour. Between every pair of petals sits a tiny silver ball, and a ring of beading circles the centre stone. Either side of the flower, the shank is wrapped in a short coil of fine wire before running out into a plain round band. The contrast between that busy little head and the bare wire is the whole design.
Black and silver is the most versatile pairing in oxidised jewellery because it fights nothing. Wear this with denim, linen, a plain kurta or a cotton saree, and it will look equally deliberate with each. It is slim enough to stack with two or three plain silver bangles if you want more on the wrist, and quiet enough to wear to work, which is not true of most kadas.
Everyday and office wear, college, travel, handloom dressing, and gifting to someone who prefers understated jewellery or wears a lot of black.
This design is adjustable rather than fixed: it opens on a screw so the same piece fits a range of wrists, which is why no size needs to be chosen at checkout. Open it only as far as the hand needs and close it gently, because repeatedly forcing an adjustable bangle wider is what eventually weakens the joint.
If you are unsure whether it will suit a particularly slim or broad wrist, ask us on WhatsApp before ordering and we will check the opening range for you.
The fine shank is the part to respect: open the kada only as far as your hand needs, because a thin wire fatigues faster than a broad band if it is sprung wide repeatedly. Keep it away from water, perfume and sanitiser, wipe it with a dry soft cloth, and never use metal polish on the oxidised finish.
