Product Description

Product Overview

This cuff is sold as a single piece and is made of embroidered fabric rather than metal. It belongs to the Kutch tradition of Gujarat, where mirrors are stitched into cloth with fine thread work around them, and it is built on a wide band so the whole pattern is visible on the wrist. Round mirrors sit in a grid of embroidered squares in orange, purple, pink and white, with small embroidered flowers between them, and dense clusters of silver beads run along both edges.

Design Details

Mirror work, or shisha, is done by anchoring a small round mirror to cloth with a web of thread around its rim, so the mirror is held without glue and the stitching becomes part of the pattern. Here the mirrors alternate with worked flowers across a grid of coloured squares, each square outlined in a contrasting thread so the geometry stays crisp. The colours are the traditional Kutchi palette: hot orange as the ground, with purple, magenta, white and green filling the cells. Along both edges, silver-tone beads are massed in a thick fringe that frames the embroidery and gives the soft cuff some weight and structure. The band fastens around the wrist and sits as a wide collar of cloth.

Product Highlights

  • Sold as a single cuff, not a pair
  • Traditional Kutch shisha mirror embroidery
  • Mirrors held by thread work rather than glue
  • Dense silver bead fringe along both edges
  • Free size, so no size needs choosing

Styling Suggestions

This is a statement in colour and needs a plain background: a black, white, indigo or natural cotton kurta, or plain linen. It looks completely wrong with a printed or embroidered outfit, which will fight it. Wear it alone on a bare wrist with a sleeve that ends above it, and keep earrings to plain oxidised studs. It reads as craft rather than jewellery, which is exactly its appeal.

Perfect For

Navratri and garba, craft fairs and exhibitions, folk performances, handloom and khadi dressing, and gifting to someone who collects textile craft.

Size and Fit

This piece is made in one free size rather than in bangle sizes. It is shaped to pass over the hand and sit loosely on the wrist, which is how this style is meant to be worn, so there is nothing to choose when you order.

Free size suits most adult wrists comfortably. It is not adjustable, so if your wrist is unusually slim or broad, message us on WhatsApp before ordering and we will tell you honestly whether it will sit well rather than take an order that comes back.

Care Instructions

This is embroidered cloth and cannot be washed: water marks the fabric, dulls the mirrors and can loosen the thread holding them. Keep it dry, brush dust off with a soft dry brush, and store it flat rather than crushed, since a fabric cuff will hold a crease. Take it off before anything that could snag the bead fringe.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. It is a single cuff, sold and priced as one piece.
Fabric. It is embroidered cotton with mirrors and silver-tone beads, built on a wide band. It is textile craft rather than metal jewellery.
Shisha embroidery: a small round mirror is anchored to cloth by a web of thread around its rim, so it is held without glue and the stitching becomes part of the pattern.
Free size. It is made in one size that suits a range of wrists.
No. Water marks the fabric, dulls the mirrors and can loosen the thread holding them in place. Brush dust off dry instead.
It can if stored crushed, since it is cloth. Keep it flat in a box or pouch rather than folded under other things.
Plain black, white, indigo or natural cotton. A printed or embroidered outfit will fight it completely.
Close, but the embroidery is done by hand, so the placement of mirrors and flowers varies a little between pieces.
The part against your skin is cotton fabric, so it is gentler than a metal bangle, though the bead fringe is metal.
