This gold kada is built around rawa work, the dense granulation where thousands of tiny gold beads are applied across the surface until the metal looks like coarse sand. Two swollen sections of that granulation flank a raised central medallion, and inside the medallion a pink marquise stone sits at the heart of a halo of small clear stones. It is one of the heaviest and most expensive pieces in this range, and the appeal is entirely in the texture rather than in colour.
Rawa is a test of patience: the granules are applied and fused individually, and the quality shows in how evenly they cover a curved surface without bald patches or clumping. Here they run over two bulbous sections that taper towards the middle, so the kada is widest at the sides and narrows towards the medallion, a profile that makes it sit heavy on the wrist without looking clumsy. The medallion itself is framed by fluted gold that radiates outward like a shell, with the pink stone set lengthways at the centre and a tight ring of clear stones around it. At the back the band closes with a proper hinge and clasp rather than springing open, which any kada of this weight needs.
A kada this heavy is the whole jewellery statement below the neck. Wear it alone on one wrist with heavy silk or brocade, and keep the other bare or with a single plain gold bangle. Because the only colour is a single pink stone, it works against red, maroon, ivory, gold and deep green without any matching required. Keep other jewellery gold toned and avoid enamel, which fights the granulated texture.
Weddings and receptions, engagement functions, and as a significant gift for a bride. It is an occasion piece, and a heavy one, rather than something to wear often.
This design is made in sizes 2.4, 2.6 and 2.8. Indian bangle sizes count upward, so a 2.4 is a smaller fit than a 2.6 and a 2.8 is larger again, with 2.6 the size most women take. These slip on over the hand rather than opening on a hinge or a screw, so choosing correctly matters more here than it would on an adjustable bangle.
The reliable way to find your size is to take a bangle that already fits you, measure straight across the inside from edge to edge, and match that against a bangle size chart. If you do not own one, bring your thumb across to the base of your little finger as though you were slipping a bangle on, wrap a strip of paper snugly around the widest part of that shape, mark where it overlaps and measure it flat. If you fall between two sizes take the larger one: a bangle that will not pass the hand cannot be worn at all, while a slightly loose one still sits well. Send us your measurement on WhatsApp and we will confirm the size before the order is taken.
Granulation traps dust between the beads and a cloth will not reach it, so clean with a dry soft brush worked over the surface. Never soak the kada: water sits in the granulation and takes a long time to dry, which dulls the gold. Keep it away from perfume and sanitiser and store it alone in a soft pouch.
