These pave AD bangles come as a set of two and carry more stones than anything else in this range. The face of each bangle is paved with several close rows of clear American diamond, set so tightly that the gold barely shows between them, while the sides are left as pierced openwork so the piece does not become a solid slab of metal. Worn together the pair reads as a continuous band of light around the wrist.
Pave means paving: stones set side by side across a surface with only tiny grains of metal holding them, so the eye reads a field of sparkle rather than individual settings. Here the rows follow the curve of the bangle and step slightly in width, widest across the top of the wrist and narrowing towards the edges, which is what gives the band its domed appearance. Below the paved face, both sides are cut through in a repeating scallop, and that openwork is doing real work: it removes weight and lets light in from underneath so the stones stay bright even indoors. A milled gold rail closes each edge.
A fully paved bangle is a bridal piece and behaves like one: it will draw the eye more than any necklace you wear with it. Keep the outfit rich but plain, silk or brocade in a solid colour, and wear the pair on one wrist alone. Clear stones take on whatever colour surrounds them, so these work against red, maroon, green, navy or ivory without any matching required.

This design is made in sizes 2.6, 2.8 and 2.10. Indian bangle sizes count upward, so a 2.4 is a smaller fit than a 2.6 and a 2.8 is larger again, with 2.6 the size most women take. These slip on over the hand rather than opening on a hinge or a screw, so choosing correctly matters more here than it would on an adjustable bangle.
The reliable way to find your size is to take a bangle that already fits you, measure straight across the inside from edge to edge, and match that against a bangle size chart. If you do not own one, bring your thumb across to the base of your little finger as though you were slipping a bangle on, wrap a strip of paper snugly around the widest part of that shape, mark where it overlaps and measure it flat. If you fall between two sizes take the larger one: a bangle that will not pass the hand cannot be worn at all, while a slightly loose one still sits well. Pave settings hold stones with very small grains of metal, so a knock that would not trouble a claw-set stone can dislodge one here. Take the bangles off before anything strenuous, clean them with a dry soft brush rather than a cloth, which snags on the grains, and never soak them: water trapped under a paved field dulls every stone as it dries.
