These gold bangles come as a set of two and run a strict alternation the whole way round: a square kundan stone, then an oval one, each set in its own gold collar and outlined with a fine line of green enamel. At intervals a red oval cabochon replaces the kundan, breaking the pale rhythm with a spot of deep colour. The green enamel outlining is the detail that lifts this above an ordinary stone-set bangle.
Kundan stones are flat and milky rather than faceted, so a bangle set entirely with them glows rather than sparkles, and the alternation of square and oval keeps that glow from becoming monotonous. Each stone sits in a raised gold collar, and around every collar a thin line of green enamel is laid into a channel, which reads at a distance as a green outline drawn around each stone. The red cabochons are domed and polished, deliberately different in both colour and surface from everything around them. The gold between settings is finely milled so no flat metal is left showing.
Pale kundan with green outlining and red accents is classic bridal colouring, and it belongs with silk, brocade or a Banarasi. It sits particularly well against maroon, deep green and gold. Wear the pair together on one wrist. Because the design is already a strict repeat, stacking these with a patterned bangle tends to look restless; plain gold beside them works better.
Weddings and receptions, engagement and sangeet functions, Diwali, and gifting to a bride.
This design is made in size 2.10. Indian bangle sizes count upward, so a 2.4 is a smaller fit than a 2.6 and a 2.8 is larger again, with 2.6 the size most women take. These slip on over the hand rather than opening on a hinge or a screw, so choosing correctly matters more here than it would on an adjustable bangle.
The reliable way to find your size is to take a bangle that already fits you, measure straight across the inside from edge to edge, and match that against a bangle size chart. If you do not own one, bring your thumb across to the base of your little finger as though you were slipping a bangle on, wrap a strip of paper snugly around the widest part of that shape, mark where it overlaps and measure it flat. If you fall between two sizes take the larger one: a bangle that will not pass the hand cannot be worn at all, while a slightly loose one still sits well. Send us your measurement on WhatsApp and we will confirm the size before the order is taken.
The enamel outlining is applied in a very thin line and is the first thing to suffer from a knock, so avoid hard surfaces and store the pair alone in a soft pouch. Clean with a dry soft brush, never water, which sits behind flat-set kundan and clouds it as it dries.
