These gold kada come as a set of two and are the most restrained of the kundan pairs in this range. A single row of stones runs around each band, alternating a large pear cut with a smaller round, and there is no enamel, no scrollwork and no secondary colour anywhere. The whole effect rests on the stones and the open gold collars holding them, which is a harder thing to get right than a busy design and looks considerably more expensive when it is.
The pear cuts are set with their points alternating, one facing up the band and the next facing down, which is what keeps a single row from looking mechanical. Between each pair sits a small round stone in its own collar. The settings are open rather than backed, so light passes through the stones from behind instead of stopping at a metal floor, and that is the reason kundan set this way glows rather than looking dull. A milled gold rail runs along both edges and the collars are joined directly to it, leaving the spaces between settings genuinely empty. The band is narrow by the standards of a kada.
Because there is no colour beyond the pale stones, this pair is the most versatile kada here. It works with any traditional outfit shade, and it pairs comfortably with a coloured necklace where a red or green enamelled kada would clash. Wear both on one wrist with silk or brocade. It also stacks well with slim plain gold bangles, which a heavily decorated kada does not.
Weddings and receptions, engagement and sangeet functions, festivals, and gifting to a bride who prefers restrained jewellery to ornate work.
This design is made in sizes 2.4, 2.6, 2.8 and 2.10. Indian bangle sizes count upward, so a 2.4 is a smaller fit than a 2.6 and a 2.8 is larger again, with 2.6 the size most women take. These slip on over the hand rather than opening on a hinge or a screw, so choosing correctly matters more here than it would on an adjustable bangle.
The reliable way to find your size is to take a bangle that already fits you, measure straight across the inside from edge to edge, and match that against a bangle size chart. If you do not own one, bring your thumb across to the base of your little finger as though you were slipping a bangle on, wrap a strip of paper snugly around the widest part of that shape, mark where it overlaps and measure it flat. If you fall between two sizes take the larger one: a bangle that will not pass the hand cannot be worn at all, while a slightly loose one still sits well. Send us your measurement on WhatsApp and we will confirm the size before the order is taken.
Open settings mean the backs of the stones are exposed, so dust reaching them from behind will dull the glow: brush the underside of the band as well as the face with a dry soft brush. Never soak the kada, since water trapped in an open setting is very slow to dry. Store the pair in a soft pouch.
