These gold kada come as a set of two and use an unusual stone colour: a pale lavender, soft and slightly clouded, set in the flat uncut style rather than faceted. Lavender is rarely seen in Indian bridal jewellery, where red, green and clear dominate, and it gives this pair a quiet, almost antique quality. Small clear stones sit between the large ones, and the gold beneath is pierced into openwork.
The lavender stones are irregular in outline rather than cut to a standard shape, which is how genuine uncut stones are set: each one is bedded into a gold collar shaped to fit it, so no two settings are quite identical. Between them, small round clear stones are set in twos and threes, bright and faceted against the softness of the lavender. The contrast between the two surfaces, one clouded and matte, the other sharp and glittering, is what carries the design. Behind the settings the band is cut through in a lattice, which lets light in from below and lifts the pale colour. The band is moderately wide and domed across its face.
Lavender is a gift for anyone tired of red and green. It sits beautifully with ivory, blush, grey, powder blue and silver-grey silks, and it works with a lilac or mauve outfit without matching exactly. Wear the pair together and keep other jewellery plain gold, since a coloured stone elsewhere will fight the lavender rather than support it.
Weddings and receptions, engagement functions, daytime bridal events, festivals, and gifting to someone who wants bridal jewellery in a less predictable colour.
This design is made in sizes 2.4, 2.6, 2.8 and 2.10. Indian bangle sizes count upward, so a 2.4 is a smaller fit than a 2.6 and a 2.8 is larger again, with 2.6 the size most women take. These slip on over the hand rather than opening on a hinge or a screw, so choosing correctly matters more here than it would on an adjustable bangle.
The reliable way to find your size is to take a bangle that already fits you, measure straight across the inside from edge to edge, and match that against a bangle size chart. If you do not own one, bring your thumb across to the base of your little finger as though you were slipping a bangle on, wrap a strip of paper snugly around the widest part of that shape, mark where it overlaps and measure it flat. If you fall between two sizes take the larger one: a bangle that will not pass the hand cannot be worn at all, while a slightly loose one still sits well. Send us your measurement on WhatsApp and we will confirm the size before the order is taken.
Flat-set stones are vulnerable to water getting behind them, which clouds them permanently, so never wash or soak these. Clean with a dry soft brush, which also reaches into the pierced lattice where dust settles. Keep the pair away from perfume and sanitiser and store them in a soft pouch.
