These gold kada come as a set of two and work by repeating one composition around the band: a large pear shaped kundan stone at the centre, a tight halo of small clear stones around it, and a pair of enamel petals either side in red and green. The halo is what makes the design: it lifts a single flat stone into something that reads as a jewel rather than as a setting, and it is a technique borrowed from far more expensive polki work.
Each pear stone is flat and milky, bedded in a gold collar and completely encircled by small faceted clear stones set close together, so the soft centre is framed by a ring of hard sparkle. Between these medallions sit petal shapes filled with enamel, alternating deep red and green, with further clear stones scattered through the gold between them. The contrast is deliberate on three levels at once: flat against faceted, milky against bright, and enamel colour against pale stone. The band is moderately wide and the whole surface is worked, with no plain gold left showing anywhere.
This is full bridal colouring, red, green and pale stone on gold, so it belongs with silk or brocade in a traditional shade. It is busy enough to wear alone on the wrist. If you are wearing a heavy necklace, these hold their own; if your necklace is simple, they become the focus, which either way makes them an easy pair to build an outfit around.
Weddings and receptions, engagement and sangeet functions, Diwali and Karwa Chauth, and gifting to a bride.
This design is made in sizes 2.4, 2.6, 2.8 and 2.10. Indian bangle sizes count upward, so a 2.4 is a smaller fit than a 2.6 and a 2.8 is larger again, with 2.6 the size most women take. These slip on over the hand rather than opening on a hinge or a screw, so choosing correctly matters more here than it would on an adjustable bangle.
The reliable way to find your size is to take a bangle that already fits you, measure straight across the inside from edge to edge, and match that against a bangle size chart. If you do not own one, bring your thumb across to the base of your little finger as though you were slipping a bangle on, wrap a strip of paper snugly around the widest part of that shape, mark where it overlaps and measure it flat. If you fall between two sizes take the larger one: a bangle that will not pass the hand cannot be worn at all, while a slightly loose one still sits well. Send us your measurement on WhatsApp and we will confirm the size before the order is taken.
A halo of small stones has many settings close together and a cloth will snag on them, so clean with a dry soft brush. The enamel petals chip on impact, so avoid hard surfaces and store the pair alone in a soft pouch. Never use water, which gets behind flat-set kundan and clouds it as it dries.
