These gold kada come as a set of two and are the most goldwork-heavy pair in this range: the band is built from a run of scalloped panels, each filled with fine filigree, and on every second panel a cluster of pale kundan stones forms a flower with small red and green stones at its centre. There is no enamel anywhere. All the richness comes from the metalwork itself, which is why the pair reads as antique rather than decorative.
Each panel is edged in a scallop and filled with coiled gold wire, granulation and tiny beaded borders, so no flat surface is left anywhere on the band. The kundan clusters sit proud of that texture, five or six flat stones arranged as petals with a red or green stone at the centre, and they alternate with plain filigree panels so the eye gets somewhere to rest between clusters. Because the panels are separately shaped and then joined, the band undulates slightly along its length rather than running as a smooth curve, which is characteristic of this construction. The kada is wide and substantial.
All-goldwork kada suit heavy traditional dressing: Banarasi, kanjeevaram, brocade. Because there is no enamel colour, the pair works against any traditional shade and pairs more easily with a stone necklace than an enamelled kada would. Wear both on one wrist and let the gold do the work; avoid adding a textured gold chain, which would compete.
Weddings and receptions, engagement and sangeet functions, Diwali, temple occasions, and gifting to a bride who prefers goldwork to colour.
This design is made in sizes 2.4, 2.6, 2.8 and 2.10. Indian bangle sizes count upward, so a 2.4 is a smaller fit than a 2.6 and a 2.8 is larger again, with 2.6 the size most women take. These slip on over the hand rather than opening on a hinge or a screw, so choosing correctly matters more here than it would on an adjustable bangle.
The reliable way to find your size is to take a bangle that already fits you, measure straight across the inside from edge to edge, and match that against a bangle size chart. If you do not own one, bring your thumb across to the base of your little finger as though you were slipping a bangle on, wrap a strip of paper snugly around the widest part of that shape, mark where it overlaps and measure it flat. If you fall between two sizes take the larger one: a bangle that will not pass the hand cannot be worn at all, while a slightly loose one still sits well. Send us your measurement on WhatsApp and we will confirm the size before the order is taken.
Filigree and granulation trap dust in every gap, so clean with a dry soft brush and never with a cloth, which catches on the coiled wire. Do not soak the kada: water sits in the filigree and takes a long time to dry, which dulls the gold. Store the pair in a soft pouch.
