These gold kada come as a set of two and are among the most detailed pieces in this range. Elephants walk around the band, each modelled in relief with a decorated blanket enamelled in pastel pink, green and white, and between them sit hexagonal kundan stones framed by deep green enamel borders with red accents. It is a full bridal design in the Rajasthani manner, where the elephant is the auspicious motif of choice.
The elephants are properly sculpted rather than stamped flat: trunk curled, ear raised, and a blanket across the back that carries its own tiny meenakari flower in pink and mint. Between each pair of elephants, a large hexagonal kundan stone sits in a gold collar, flanked by smaller kundan in a six-petal arrangement and outlined in green enamel so the cluster reads as a flower. Red enamel dots punctuate the borders. Underneath all of this the gold is pierced into openwork, which is what keeps a kada carrying this much applied decoration from becoming unwearably heavy. Fine granulation fills the remaining gaps.
This is heavy bridal jewellery and wants to be treated as the main event. Wear the pair on one wrist with a silk or brocade outfit and keep the other bare. The enamel carries pink, mint, green and red, so it will find something to echo in almost any traditional outfit, though it looks especially good against maroon and deep green. Do not add another enamel piece; plain gold elsewhere works far better.
Weddings and receptions, engagement and sangeet functions, and as a substantial gift for a bride. The elephant motif also makes it a traditional choice for ceremonial occasions.
This design is made in sizes 2.4 and 2.8. Indian bangle sizes count upward, so a 2.4 is a smaller fit than a 2.6 and a 2.8 is larger again, with 2.6 the size most women take. These slip on over the hand rather than opening on a hinge or a screw, so choosing correctly matters more here than it would on an adjustable bangle.
The reliable way to find your size is to take a bangle that already fits you, measure straight across the inside from edge to edge, and match that against a bangle size chart. If you do not own one, bring your thumb across to the base of your little finger as though you were slipping a bangle on, wrap a strip of paper snugly around the widest part of that shape, mark where it overlaps and measure it flat. If you fall between two sizes take the larger one: a bangle that will not pass the hand cannot be worn at all, while a slightly loose one still sits well. Send us your measurement on WhatsApp and we will confirm the size before the order is taken.
Enamel chips and kundan collars lift, and there is a great deal of both here, so this is a piece to handle carefully: no knocks, no water, and storage alone in a soft pouch. Clean with a dry soft brush only, working around the elephants rather than pressing across them, and never use liquid polish, which seeps into the openwork.
