These bridal gold kada come as a set of two and are the most elaborate and most expensive pieces in the entire kada range. The band is wide and every part of it is worked: square kundan stones set as diamonds at the centre of each panel, marquise kundan fanned around them as petals, borders of small clear stones, and tucked into the gaps, tight clusters of tiny red, green and pearl beads. Nothing is left plain. This is the kind of kada bought for a wedding day rather than for a season.
The composition repeats in panels. At the centre of each sits a square kundan set on the diagonal inside a frame of small clear stones, and radiating from it are marquise kundan arranged as a four petal flower. Between the panels, more marquise stones fan out in pairs, and every remaining gap is filled with clusters of minute beads in red, green and white, strung rather than set, which is what gives the surface its slightly textile, hand built quality. Along both edges runs a border of clear stones in a milled rail. The band is deep as well as wide, curving over the wrist, and it closes with a hinge and clasp, which a kada this heavy requires.
This pair is the jewellery decision, not part of it. Wear them on one wrist with a heavy silk, brocade or a lehenga, leave the other wrist bare, and choose a simpler necklace than you otherwise would: two pieces this dense will fight each other. Red, maroon and gold outfits are the natural partners. Because the kada already contains pearls, a pearl necklace also works unusually well.
Your own wedding or a close family member's, receptions and sangeet, and as a major bridal gift. These are an occasion purchase rather than a seasonal one.
This design is made in sizes 2.2, 2.4, 2.6 and 2.8. Indian bangle sizes count upward, so a 2.4 is a smaller fit than a 2.6 and a 2.8 is larger again, with 2.6 the size most women take. These slip on over the hand rather than opening on a hinge or a screw, so choosing correctly matters more here than it would on an adjustable bangle.
The reliable way to find your size is to take a bangle that already fits you, measure straight across the inside from edge to edge, and match that against a bangle size chart. If you do not own one, bring your thumb across to the base of your little finger as though you were slipping a bangle on, wrap a strip of paper snugly around the widest part of that shape, mark where it overlaps and measure it flat. If you fall between two sizes take the larger one: a bangle that will not pass the hand cannot be worn at all, while a slightly loose one still sits well. Send us your measurement on WhatsApp and we will confirm the size before the order is taken.
There is stone setting, kundan bedding and strung beadwork on one piece here, and the beads are the weakest of the three: a snagged thread releases them and they cannot be restrung invisibly. Keep the kada clear of knitwear and bag straps, clean only with a dry soft brush, never water, and store each one separately in a soft pouch.
