These antique gold kada come as a set of two and repeat one motif the whole way round: the paisley, that curved teardrop with a turned tail found across Indian textile and jewellery design. Each paisley is raised well clear of the band and surrounded by radiating lines, and between them square stones alternate red, green and clear. Small gold beads hang in clusters from the lower edge, which is what gives an otherwise formal kada a bit of movement.
The paisleys are struck deep so they cast their own shadow, and each sits inside a fan of engraved rays that spread outward to the edges of the band, filling what would otherwise be flat metal. The stones are set in squares rather than the usual rounds, which keeps the geometry crisp against all those curves, and they run in a strict red, green, clear repeat rather than randomly. Along the lower edge, short chains of tiny gold beads hang at intervals, ending in a slightly larger bead so they swing rather than lie flat. The gold carries an antique tone, darkened in the recesses and bright on the raised paisleys, which is what lets a design this dense still read clearly.
The antique tone here suits heavier traditional fabric: silk, brocade, or a Banarasi. It sits well against red, maroon, green and gold, and the paisley motif pairs naturally with a paisley border in a saree. Wear the pair together on one wrist and keep the other bare. Because the bead drops move, this is a kada that looks better in motion than in a photograph.
Weddings and receptions, sangeet and engagement functions, Diwali and Karwa Chauth, and gifting to a bride or for an anniversary.
This design is made in sizes 2.8 and 2.10. Indian bangle sizes count upward, so a 2.4 is a smaller fit than a 2.6 and a 2.8 is larger again, with 2.6 the size most women take. These slip on over the hand rather than opening on a hinge or a screw, so choosing correctly matters more here than it would on an adjustable bangle.
The reliable way to find your size is to take a bangle that already fits you, measure straight across the inside from edge to edge, and match that against a bangle size chart. If you do not own one, bring your thumb across to the base of your little finger as though you were slipping a bangle on, wrap a strip of paper snugly around the widest part of that shape, mark where it overlaps and measure it flat. If you fall between two sizes take the larger one: a bangle that will not pass the hand cannot be worn at all, while a slightly loose one still sits well. Send us your measurement on WhatsApp and we will confirm the size before the order is taken.
The hanging bead drops can catch on knitwear, so put the kada on after dressing and take them off before anything that might snag. Clean with a dry soft brush, which reaches into the engraved rays where a cloth cannot, and never use metal polish, which strips the antique darkening. Keep them away from water and perfume.
