A rigid gold-tone collar that holds its own shape around the neck, with a fringe of small green beads hanging from its lower edge, and matching earrings.
Almost every necklace is flexible. This one is not: it is a rigid band that keeps its curve whether or not it is being worn, opening at the back to go on. That puts it in the oldest category of Indian neck ornament, the hasli, which took its name from the collarbone it was designed to sit on.
Rigidity changes how a piece behaves completely. It stands slightly away from the skin rather than following it, holds its position when the wearer leans forward, and keeps its shape under a dupatta. It is also why a rigid collar reads as more formal than a chain of the same weight.
Hanging a row of beads from a rigid band sets up a contrast the piece depends on: the band cannot move and the fringe can do nothing else. Every step shows up at the lower edge while the collar itself stays exactly where it was. Fringes of this kind appear on anklets and jhumkas for the same reason — movement is a design material, and this is the cheapest way to get it.
A rigid collar needs a bare throat and an open neckline; it cannot be hidden and will not sit under a collar. Hair up, and nothing else on the neck.
Only the Green is stocked, which is the colourway this collar set was designed around and the one in every photograph on this page.
Instead of an add-to-cart button there is an enquiry button, deliberately: these arrive in small runs per colour and we would rather confirm the shade is in hand than refund you later.
What sparkles is cubic zirconia; what carries colour is glass. That split is deliberate, and it is the honest description of almost every piece of Indian costume jewellery at this price.
The metal is brass with a gold-tone finish over it, not gold, and nothing on this page describes it as gold.
Delivery runs two to five working days within India from the day the order is dispatched, and five to twelve working days for international orders; Sundays are not counted. Returns follow the policy published on this site. Returns follow the policy published on this site; tell us on arrival if anything is wrong and we will sort it out.
Nothing here is hallmarked and nothing here holds resale value. What it holds is design: shapes drawn from a jewellery tradition several centuries old, made at a weight and a price that let you match a piece to one outfit without thinking twice about it. That is a perfectly good reason to buy jewellery, and it is the only claim this page makes.
Keep it away from water, perfume and hair spray, and put it on after you have finished dressing rather than before. A dry cotton cloth after wearing, and a closed pouch rather than an open drawer, is the whole routine. Keyura is prepaid only — there is no cash on delivery on any order.
