A round disc with a faceted stone at its centre, ringed first by a tight circle of seed pearls and then by a band of fluted silver radiating outward like rays. Below hang five teardrop stones in different colours, each ending in a pearl drop. It sits on a fine snake chain, and the matching studs are identical discs with their own fringes.
Available in 4 colours: Multi Color, Green, White and Ruby. The colour refers to the centre stone.
The pendant is built in three rings that each do something different: the stone holds colour, the pearls hold light, and the fluted silver holds shadow. That layering is why a disc barely larger than a coin has so much visible depth.
The multicoloured fringe below means the set is not tied to its centre stone colour. Whatever shade you choose, the teardrops bring in green, red and yellow, so it coordinates with far more than a single colour piece would.
Seed pearls set tight against the bezel, forming a white line that separates the stone from the silver. It is what makes a small centre stone read clearly from a distance.
Deep grooves radiating outward around the disc, so light travels around the edge as you move rather than reflecting from one point.
The pendant sits just below the collarbone. Light, and the fringe gives it a little movement that a plain pendant would not have.
Cotton, handloom, chanderi and light silk. It is small enough for daytime and detailed enough for a festival, which is a useful range for one piece.
A pendant with one stone colour has to be matched to the outfit; a pendant with several has the opposite problem solved for it. Adding a small multicoloured fringe to a single stone piece is the most economical way to get both: the centre stone gives the piece a clear identity and a colour you chose deliberately, while the fringe guarantees that something in it picks up whatever you are wearing. That is why so many traditional pendants, however restrained above, end in a scatter of mixed stones at the bottom.
If you have not worn oxidised silver before, a small pendant set is the sensible place to start. It costs little, it tells you quickly whether the dark metal suits your skin and your wardrobe, and the matching studs mean you get two wearable pieces rather than one. The heavier oxidised pieces — chokers, long haars, layered sets — are a bigger commitment in both price and styling, and they suit a specific kind of outfit. A disc pendant on a fine chain suits almost anything, so it answers the question without much risk.
Never use a silver dip, which strips the oxidised finish. Put it on after perfume and wipe with a dry soft cloth.
