The chain alternates two units all the way down: a silver peacock in profile, and a rosette set with a small stone at its centre. They lead to a pendant in two tiers — a large emerald cut stone in a plain frame at the top, flanked by peacocks, and beneath it a smooth domed stone ringed by small teardrops in a granulated frame, finished with a pearl fringe. The matching earrings are deep pierced jhumkas with peacock tops.
Available in 7 colours: Sea Green, Green, Yellow, White, Red, Blue and Ruby. The colour refers to the stones.
Two different cuts in one pendant — a hard edged emerald cut above, a smooth dome below — is a deliberate contrast and it is the reason the pendant does not read as one shape repeated. The flat facets catch light sharply while the dome glows, so the two behave differently in the same light.
The chain alternates figure and flower rather than repeating one unit, so there is interest along the whole length instead of only at the front.
A rectangular step cut with clipped corners, large and set in a completely plain frame. It is a modern cut in a traditional setting, and the plainness of the frame is what lets that work.
Tiny applied silver beads covering the surround of the domed stone, dense enough that no smooth metal shows. It is the most labour intensive part of the pendant.
Long, with the pendant at mid chest. The links hinge at every join, so it lies flat. Moderate weight for its length.
Plain cotton, handloom and simple silk. It hangs low enough to work with high necklines, and the jhumkas are substantial enough to balance it.
Most jewellery uses a single cut throughout, which keeps a design coherent but also flat in character — every stone reflects light the same way at the same moment. Mixing a faceted stone with a cabochon changes that. The faceted one flashes as you move and goes dark when the light is behind you; the domed one holds a steady glow regardless. Used together, one is always doing something, so the piece never falls flat in difficult lighting. It is a small technical point that makes a noticeable difference in photographs and in indoor light.
Never use a silver dip, which strips the oxidised finish. Wipe with a dry soft cloth and store flat so the chain does not tangle.
