This oxidised stone flower medallion necklace set is built around a single bold circle: a large disc packed with coloured stones laid out as a six-petal flower, ringed by rows of tiny white seed beads. Two smaller stone-set discs step down the chain towards it, so the design grows as it approaches the front. Matching round studs repeat the flower exactly. The set photographed is in aqua, and the design comes in three colours. It is a piece that reads as folk jewellery rather than temple jewellery, and it is easier to wear day to day than its size suggests.
The chain is a double strand of small round oxidised beads, strung close so it hangs as a soft rope. Partway down, two circular medallions sit in line, each with a ring of stones around a stippled silver centre, acting as a visual run-up to the pendant. The pendant itself is considerably larger: a flat disc whose whole surface is given over to stonework, with six petal-cut stones radiating from a round centre stone and a dense border of smaller round stones enclosing them. What lifts it is the edging, several rows of tiny white seed beads worked around the rim so the silver is framed in white rather than ending abruptly. The oxidised finish sits dark between the bezels, which makes each stone read as a separate piece of colour.
The bold single circle makes this work over plain fabric in almost any colour, and it is one of the few oxidised sets that looks right with western clothes as well as Indian ones. Try it over a plain white shirt, a black kurta, a linen dress, or a cotton saree with a simple blouse. The white bead border means it does not need a white or cream outfit to lift it, the way a plain silver pendant sometimes does. The studs are small enough to wear alone on ordinary days.
Everyday and casual wear, college, travel, exhibitions and craft fairs, weekend outings, and gifting to someone who likes bold but uncomplicated jewellery. It is a good choice for someone who finds temple-style sets too formal.
The seed bead border is the most delicate part, so avoid catching the pendant on knitwear or loose weave fabric. Keep the set away from water, perfume, hair spray and sanitiser, wipe the metal with a dry soft cloth after wearing, and store the necklace flat in its pouch with the studs kept separately.
