This oxidised peacock long necklace set is the most elaborate piece in this range, with a large openwork pendant built around a single big teardrop stone and a chain made of stone-set leaf links running all the way to the neck. Matching earrings are included, carrying the same peacock shape and the same fringe of small white beads. The set photographed here is in blue, and the design is offered in three stone colours. Everything is finished in antique silver tone, with the recesses darkened so the scrollwork reads clearly.
The chain is not a support but part of the design: pairs of small silver leaves alternate with round stone settings down both sides, so colour and metalwork continue unbroken from the back of the neck to the pendant. The pendant itself is broad and rounded, filled with pierced scrollwork through which light passes, and at its centre sits a large faceted teardrop stone held in a raised mount. Peacocks are worked into the metal on either side of it, their tails drawn out into fine curling plumes, and smaller stones are set along the curves. Around the lower edge hang short clusters of small white beads. The earrings repeat the arrangement at a smaller scale, with a stone-set crest above a fanned body and the same bead fringe below, on a hook fitting. Available in Blue, Baby Pink and Black.
This is a long set that needs an open neckline to be seen properly, so pair it with a plain saree blouse or a simple round or boat neck. Silk and chanderi carry it well, and a solid colour underneath is better than a print, because the pendant already has a great deal of detail. Wear your hair up so the earrings show, and leave the wrists mostly bare or wear a single plain oxidised bangle. Do not add a second necklace.
Weddings, receptions, sangeet and mehendi functions, Navratri and Durga Puja, and gifting for an engagement or a wedding. It suits anyone who wants the scale and detail of temple-style silver jewellery at a fraction of its cost.
Store the necklace and earrings flat and apart so the bead fringes do not tangle with one another. Keep the set away from water, perfume, hair spray and sanitiser, and put it on after you have finished dressing. Wipe the metal with a dry soft cloth after wearing, working around the stone settings rather than pressing over them.
