This oxidised elephant hasli necklace set is built around one deep, dark rectangular stone. The collar is a pierced scrollwork band set with small stones along its length, and at the front a large rectangular cabochon sits framed in silver, with an elephant standing on either side of it facing inward. Below hangs a fringe of marquise-cut stones alternating with small white pearls. The set photographed is in a deep maroon, dark enough that it reads almost black until light catches it.
The band is cut through in a pattern of curling vines, with small round stones set into the solid parts at regular intervals, so it stays light while carrying colour along its whole curve. The centre stone is the anchor: a large rectangular cabochon, smooth and domed, with the colour running deep through it, held in a plain stepped bezel that gives the pendant its architectural squareness. The two elephants are modelled in relief with curved trunks and decorated backs, positioned so their bodies bridge the gap between the stone and the band. Beneath the stone, marquise-cut stones radiate downward in a short fan, each separated by a silver boss, and small white pearls hang between them. The earrings repeat the rectangle and the fan at a smaller scale.
A deep stone like this needs light behind it, so avoid very dark fabric and choose mid to light solids instead: grey, dusty rose, sand, cream or a soft olive all let the colour show rather than swallowing it. The collar sits high, so keep the neckline completely clear. Hair up, matching earrings, and nothing else at the neck or wrists.
Festival evenings, Navratri, weddings where you prefer silver to gold, exhibitions and craft fairs, and gifting to someone who collects tribal silver. The elephant motif also makes it a natural choice for ceremonial wear.
Do not bend the collar to adjust it, and take care with the pierced sections, which are the weakest part of the band. Keep the set away from water, perfume, hair spray and sanitiser, clean the scrollwork with a dry soft brush, and store it flat and curved as it is worn.
