This oxidised chandbali pendant long necklace borrows the crescent shape usually reserved for earrings and enlarges it into a pendant. The crescent is filled edge to edge with cut stones arranged in concentric bands, topped by a flower connector, and edged along its curve with clusters of small white pearls. The chain above is built from scrolled links each set with a stone, so colour runs the full length. It is offered in nine colours, the second widest choice in this range.
The chain links are pairs of curling silver scrolls with a round stone held where they meet, repeating down both sides and giving the piece an open, airy line rather than a solid band. Partway down, a five-petal stone flower marks the transition into the pendant. The crescent itself is laid out in rings: a border of raised beading, then a row of round stones, then teardrops fanning outward from a larger central stone, with pierced silver scrollwork filling the gaps between the settings so light passes behind them. Around the outer curve hang tight clusters of small white pearls, heavier at the base than at the tips, which is what gives the crescent its weighted, swinging movement. Available in Blue, Aqua, Mint, Red, Baby Pink, White, Yellow, Green and Black.
The crescent is wide, so give it space: a plain saree blouse or an open neckline, in a solid colour that contrasts with the stone shade you choose. Red and Green are the most traditional and belong with silk for weddings; White and Mint are lightest for daytime; Black is the most versatile. Because the pendant swings, this is a piece that looks best in motion, so it suits standing occasions rather than seated dinners. Keep earrings small, and certainly avoid chandbalis of your own.
Weddings and receptions, sangeet and mehendi evenings, Navratri and Durga Puja, festive parties, and gifting, where nine shades make it easy to match someone's wardrobe.
Use a dry soft brush across the face of the pendant rather than a cloth, which catches on the many bezel edges. Keep the necklace away from water, perfume, hair spray and sanitiser, and store it flat in its pouch with the pearl clusters supported rather than left hanging under their own weight.
