Several strands of small green, maroon and pearl beads run down to a round disc set with stones of many colours, with a gold elephant at its base and a hexagonal panel hanging below, enamelled and edged with pearls. Matching jhumkas repeat the hexagon. Six colourways.
This is a haar — a long piece that hangs well below the collarbone rather than sitting at the throat. The length changes how it is worn: it needs a high or closed neckline to sit against rather than an open one, which is the opposite of a choker, and it reads down the body rather than across it.
The upper section is several parallel strands of small beads rather than a single chain. Multiple fine strands drape differently from one thick one — they separate and shift as you move instead of hanging as a rigid line, and the mix of green, maroon and pearl means the colour is distributed along the whole length rather than concentrated only in the pendant.
The round disc carries stones of several different colours set together — the navratna arrangement, nine gems, traditionally one for each of the nine celestial bodies. It is worn as much for what it signifies as for how it looks. Here the stones are decorative rather than precious, but the colour logic follows the tradition.
Baby Pink, Green, Sea Green, White, Ruby Red and Black. Availability is confirmed before payment.
Hair fully up and a closed or high neckline for the length to rest against. It belongs with heavy silk, lehengas, maroon and ivory, and is a bridal and reception piece rather than a daytime one.
Weddings, receptions, sangeets and bridal wear.
Type: Long haar necklace set. Metal: Brass. Finish: Dual tone, gold and silver plating. Stones: Monalisa with paachi stones in a navratna arrangement. Includes: haar and matching jhumka earrings. Available in 6 colourways.
Dual-tone means two platings on one piece — a bright silver tone and a warm gold tone, applied to different parts of the same design so each section reads separately. It is harder than a single finish because the two have to be masked off from one another, and it is why these pieces show their detail so clearly: the eye separates the gold elements from the silver ones before it has read a single stone. The base metal underneath is brass, so this is plating rather than solid gold or silver.
Put this on after perfume, hairspray and hand cream, and take it off before washing, swimming or sleeping. Wipe with a dry soft cloth and use a dry soft brush around the stone settings and between any pearls, where a cloth cannot reach. Store it in a zip-lock pouch — which is what the supplier themselves advise, and the single most effective thing for a plated piece, because it keeps humid air off the metal. Never use silver polish, dip cleaners or an ultrasonic cleaner.
