Rectangular plaques in gold meenakari, each framed in oxidised silver and filled with fine enamel detail in red, green and blue, sit in a row along a twisted black thread. A larger round medallion marks the centre, and the matching earrings hang two plaques one below the other.
Available in 5 colours: Green, Red, Black, Yellow and Multi Color. The colour refers to the enamel filling the plaques.
The proportions are unusual and better for it. Rather than a continuous collar, five separate plaques sit spaced along the thread with gaps between them, so skin shows through and the piece never reads as a solid band of metal.
That spacing also makes it far lighter than a collar of equivalent width, and it means the necklace follows the curve of the neck naturally instead of holding a fixed shape.
Each plaque is filled with meenakari enamel fired into the metal and bordered by raised gold lines. Because the colour sits below the surface rather than on top of it, it survives ordinary wear without scratching away.
A twisted black thread with silver binding and a tassel, so the length is fully adjustable — worn short as a choker or loosened to sit at the collarbone. It also means one size fits everyone, which a rigid collar cannot claim.
Two plaques hang one below the other, repeating the necklace at a smaller scale. Long enough to balance the width of the necklace without competing with it.
Light for its visual scale because of the spacing between plaques. Comfortable through a full function.
Plain solid fabrics — cotton, handloom or simple silk — in black, white, indigo or mustard, so the enamel colours read clearly. Hair up or to one side.
Rigid metal collars are sized, and a size that suits one neck sits awkwardly on another. A thread closure removes the problem entirely: the same piece works as a snug choker on one person and as a collarbone necklace on another, and it adapts to the neckline you happen to be wearing. It is also far kinder to the piece itself, since there is no clasp to weaken or spring to fail.
One more advantage of spaced plaques over a solid collar is repair. If a single plaque is ever damaged it can be replaced without remaking the whole piece, whereas a continuous collar has to be reworked end to end. It is the kind of thing that only matters once, but it matters a great deal then.
Keep it in a pouch and keep the dori dry. Put it on after perfume, wipe with a dry soft cloth, and keep it away from water.
