A long haar built from lotus bud links — each a fan of pointed petals with a small stone at its base — joined so the buds face alternately up and down along the whole length, with the stones in a different colour at almost every link. It ends in a large oval stone set in a cross hatched silver frame, with leaf motifs across the stone and a fringe of multicoloured teardrops radiating from the lower edge. The matching earrings repeat the oval and the teardrop fringe.
Available in 4 colours: Black, Red, Green and Ruby. The colour refers to the large oval pendant stone.
Alternating the buds up and down along the chain is what makes the length interesting. Facing the same way, a row of identical links reads as a repeated stamp; alternated, they interlock and the line has a rhythm to follow.
Every link carries a stone, and the colours change almost every time. Over the full length of a haar that produces a scattered, almost accidental effect, which is much livelier than a single repeated colour.
A large oval stone in a cross hatched frame with silver leaves laid across its surface. Putting metalwork on top of the stone rather than only around it is unusual and gives the pendant real depth.
Multicoloured teardrops radiating outward from the base of the pendant, pointing away from the centre so the fringe spreads rather than hanging straight.
Long, with the pendant at mid chest. The links hinge at every join, so a long piece still follows the body.
Silk sarees, plain cotton and handloom. It hangs low, so it works with high necklines and closed collars where a choker cannot go.
The honest comparison is about how often each will be worn. A choker needs an open neckline, hair away from the face and a certain kind of occasion; a long haar sits below the collar and works with a kurta, a closed blouse, a jacket or a dupatta, and it stays visible with hair down. It also reads as less formal at the same level of detail, because the work is spread across a greater length rather than concentrated at the throat. For most wardrobes, the long piece gets worn several times as often — which is worth weighing before choosing between two pieces at the same price.
Never use a silver dip, which strips the oxidised finish. Wipe with a dry soft cloth and store flat so the chain does not tangle.
