A long band runs down both sides, built from small clusters that alternate between coloured stones and clear ones so the line changes rhythm every few centimetres. It ends at a large round medallion: a domed centre stone in a plain bezel, surrounded by a broad band of engraved leaves, then a ring of alternating coloured and clear stones, with pearl clusters along the lower edge. The matching studs repeat the medallion at ear size.
Available in 6 colours: Ruby, Red, Baby Pink, Black, White and Green. The colour refers to the stones throughout.
Alternating coloured and clear clusters along the band is what stops a long stone necklace from reading as one continuous stripe. The clear sections act as pauses, and the eye travels the length instead of taking it in at once.
The medallion is built in concentric bands — stone, engraving, stone — so it reads outward from the centre rather than as a flat disc with decoration applied to it.
A broad ring of leaf forms cut into the silver between the centre stone and the outer stone ring. It is the only part of the pendant without stones and it is what gives the eye somewhere to rest.
Large, smooth and unfaceted, in a plain bezel. Against all the small faceted stones around it, the smoothness is the contrast that makes it read as the centre.
Long, with the medallion at mid chest and an extender chain at the back. Moderate weight for its size, and the band hinges so it follows the body.
Plain cotton, handloom and simple silk. Ruby and green read as traditional, black and white as modern, and the design supports either.
A long necklace has a practical problem that a choker does not: there is a great deal of distance to fill between the shoulders and the pendant, and if that distance is filled with one repeated unit the eye skips straight to the pendant and the rest is wasted work. Interrupting the run — with a change of colour, a change of density, or a plain section — gives the piece internal structure and makes the length feel intentional. It is the single most reliable difference between a long necklace that looks designed and one that looks like a pendant on an over decorated chain.
Never use a silver dip, which strips the oxidised finish and softens the engraving. Wipe with a dry soft cloth and store flat.
