A short necklace carrying a square pendant: a green stone at the centre, framed by a close ring of small clear stones, hung from a line of paved links, with matching earrings.
Indian jewellery is overwhelmingly curved — crescents, paisleys, petals, domes — so a square pendant registers immediately as the exception. Straight edges and right angles entered Indian design through Art Deco in the 1920s and have stayed, mostly on pieces meant to be worn with Western clothes as readily as with a saree.
A square also behaves differently when it hangs. A round pendant can rotate without anyone noticing; a square announces every degree it twists. That forces a better suspension point, which is why well-made square pendants hang straighter than round ones of the same weight.
Ringing the centre stone with much smaller ones is called a halo, and it is doing arithmetic rather than decoration. A stone on its own gives the eye nothing to measure it against, so it reads smaller than it is. Surround it with stones a fraction of its size and it reads larger, while the ring of light conveniently hides the join between the stone and its setting.
This is the piece in the range that works with a shirt. The geometry keeps it from looking costume-traditional, so it sits as comfortably over office clothes as under a dupatta.
2 shades are kept: White and Green. They are stocked independently of each other, which is why a shade can disappear while its siblings remain.
This piece is listed for enquiry rather than instant checkout. Colour stock moves in small quantities, so we confirm the exact shade, the price and a delivery window with you before anything is charged.
Cubic zirconia does the bright work here and coloured glass does the colour. Each is used where it is better — CZ wins on light, glass wins on saturation, and no part of the piece pretends to be a mined stone.
The metal is brass with a gold-tone finish over it, not gold, and nothing on this page describes it as gold.
Nothing here is hallmarked and nothing here holds resale value. What it holds is design: shapes drawn from a jewellery tradition several centuries old, made at a weight and a price that let you match a piece to one outfit without thinking twice about it. That is a perfectly good reason to buy jewellery, and it is the only claim this page makes.
Sizing is the usual worry when jewellery is bought for someone else, and it barely applies here. Necklaces and sets fasten with an adjustable chain, earrings need only a pierced lobe, and nothing has to be measured in advance. It arrives boxed and ready to give.
Never use silver dip, polish or an ultrasonic cleaner on it. A dry cotton cloth is the only cleaning a plated piece should ever get. Keyura is prepaid only — there is no cash on delivery on any order.
