This German silver temple long necklace set is the most architectural piece in the range. The pendant is a rectangular panel showing a temple facade in relief, and below it hangs a flat sheet of jali, the pierced lattice screen used in Indian architecture, fringed with small ghungroo bells. The chain above is made of stamped links carrying small charms and bell clusters, and it is finished not with a metal clasp but with a thick black thread cord that ties at the back. Matching earrings repeat the temple arch over their own jali panel.
The centre panel is the anchor: a temple front with pillars either side and a figure standing in the doorway, framed by a border of fine scrollwork and capped with a curved cornice. Beneath it, the jali drop is genuinely pierced rather than stamped, a grid of tiny openings cut through the sheet, and it is this transparency that stops a pendant of that size from feeling like a solid slab. Ghungroo bells hang from its lower edge and sound faintly as you walk. Along the chain, flat stamped links alternate with small pointed leaf charms, seed-shaped drops and tight clusters of bells, so the ornament continues the entire length rather than sitting only at the front. The black cord carries the whole piece and ties to any length you want.
All-metal temple jewellery wants handloom fabric behind it, and the black cord means it also sits naturally against black and dark clothing in a way silver-chained pieces do not. Wear it with a plain cotton or silk saree, khadi, or a solid kurta, and keep the neckline open so the full drop of the jali is visible. Because the cord is adjustable, you can wear it long over a kurta or shorten it for a saree. Hair up, so the earrings show.
Festival days, temple visits, classical dance and music performances, exhibitions and craft fairs, Navratri, and gifting to someone who collects traditional silverwork rather than stone-set jewellery.
The jali lattice and the relief panel both trap dust, so clean with a dry soft brush rather than a cloth, which catches in the piercing. Keep the set away from water, perfume, hair spray, sanitiser and kumkum, and do not wash the thread cord, as water loosens its winding. Store it flat so the jali sheet is supported and not bent.
