A long chain of fluted silver balls carries a pendant made of two horizontal rods, one above the other, each ribbed at the ends and set along its length with alternating square and round stones in clear and coloured glass. Between and below them hangs a dense fringe of small pearls. The matching earrings are single barrels with a square stone above and their own pearl clusters beneath.
Available in 3 colours: Green, Baby Pink and Blue. The colour refers to the stones set into the rods.
A horizontal pendant is uncommon and immediately reads as different. Almost every necklace hangs something vertical; two stacked bars draw a line across the body instead, which is closer to modern jewellery design than traditional.
Alternating clear and coloured stones along each rod keeps the line from becoming monotonous, and it means the piece reads as sparkling at a distance and as two distinct stone colours up close.
Ribbed at both ends and smooth in the middle where the stones sit, so the ends read as finished caps rather than cut tubes.
Deliberately dense — several strands deep — so the hard straight lines above sit on something completely soft. Without that contrast the pendant would read as industrial.
Long, with the pendant at mid chest. The ball chain is fluted rather than smooth, so it lies flat and does not twist. Comfortable for a full day.
Plain cotton, handloom and linen. Because it hangs low it works with closed and high necklines where a choker cannot go, and it suits western clothing unusually well.
The direction a pendant runs changes how it reads on the body more than its size does. A vertical pendant draws the eye down and lengthens the line of the neck, which is why almost all traditional designs use it. A horizontal one does the opposite: it creates a deliberate break across the chest and sits more like a piece of design than an ornament. It suits a simple, uncluttered outfit, where the straight line has nothing to compete with, and it is the better choice with a round or boat neckline that already draws a horizontal line of its own — the two reinforce each other instead of fighting.
Never use a silver dip, which strips the oxidised finish. Wipe with a dry soft cloth and store flat so the fringe is not crushed.
