A heavy oxidised chain carries a row of engraved silver beads and small stone set florets across the front, from which hang three diamond shaped panels — a larger one at the centre, two smaller at the sides — each set with a blue stone and edged with pearl clusters. A barrel shaped gold bead sits above the centre panel, and matching earrings repeat the diamond.
Available in 2 colours: Blue and Red. The colour refers to the stones set into the panels and florets.
Hanging the panels as separate drops rather than joining them into a continuous plate is what gives the front its movement. Each diamond swings slightly on its own link, and the gaps between them let skin show through, so a wide arrangement never reads as a solid slab.
The graduation helps too — the centre panel is noticeably larger, so the group forms a shallow V that follows the natural line of a neckline.
Substantial oxidised links rather than a thread, punctuated with engraved silver beads. It carries the weight of the panels comfortably and means there is no dori to tie each time you wear it.
Each diamond is engraved around its border and set with a single stone at the centre, with small pearls clustered at the lower points. Setting one stone per panel rather than filling them keeps the engraving visible, which is where the character of the piece lies.
Sits at collarbone length. Substantial but not a collar, so it suits a wider range of necklines than a rigid hasli would.
Cotton, handloom and simple silks in solid colours. Black, indigo, mustard and white all work. The matching earrings are enough alongside.
Indian necklaces close either with a metal chain and clasp or with an adjustable thread dori, and the choice affects more than appearance. A thread adapts to any neck and any neckline, but must be tied each time and should be kept dry. A chain is fixed in length but faster to put on, more durable, and better suited to a heavy front section, since the weight is spread along metal rather than pulling on a knot. For a piece worn often rather than occasionally, a chain is usually the more practical choice.
Store it flat in a pouch so the pearl clusters are not crushed. Put it on after perfume, wipe with a dry soft cloth, and keep it away from water.
