A long chain set with small gold beads carries a broad pendant: a large smooth blue stone in an oxidised frame, with a gold peacock on each side, red and turquoise accents above, and a dense fringe of white pearls along the lower edge. The matching earrings repeat the whole arrangement at a smaller scale.
Available in 6 colours: Green, Baby Pink, White, Black, Red and Sea Green. The colour refers to the large centre stone.
The centre stone is large, smooth and completely uncut, which is a more confident choice than filling the same space with small faceted stones. A single plain area of colour reads clearly from a distance where intricate stone work dissolves into texture.
Framing it with two gold peacocks gives the pendant symmetry and a clear focal point without crowding the stone itself. The birds sit at the sides rather than over it.
Dense white pearls run along the lower curve of the pendant, softening what would otherwise be a hard edged panel and giving the bottom of the piece movement as you walk.
Oxidised links interrupted with small gold beads, so the two metals run the full length of the necklace rather than appearing only at the front. It finishes with a thread and tassel, making the length adjustable.
Sits below the collarbone where there is room for the width of the pendant. The chain is fine so the piece feels lighter than its size suggests.
Plain solid fabrics — cotton, handloom or simple silk. Blue against oxidised silver is cool and slightly tribal, and it works particularly well with white, indigo, grey and mustard.
Flanking a central stone with a pair of birds or animals is one of the oldest arrangements in Indian ornament, found on temple gateways and in textile borders as well as jewellery. The logic is that the pair creates symmetry and frames whatever sits between them, drawing attention inward rather than competing for it. Placing a single bird over the stone would break that symmetry and halve the effect, which is why you almost always see them in twos.
A pendant this wide also photographs better than a narrow one, because it presents a large flat face to the camera rather than a thin edge. That is worth knowing if the piece is being bought for an occasion that will be photographed, where a delicate chain often disappears entirely.
Store it flat in a pouch so the pearl fringe is not tangled. Put it on after perfume, wipe with a dry soft cloth, and keep it away from water.
