The same temple construction rendered entirely in antique silver: two necklaces of scrolled openwork, one at the throat and one across the chest, each edged with a close pearl fringe and centred on a Lakshmi pendant framed by scrollwork and a heavier fall of pearls. The matching jhumkas carry their own small pearl fringe.
Available in White — natural white pearls against an antique silver finish.
Temple jewellery is almost always made in gold tones, so a full set in antique silver is genuinely uncommon. It reads as older and quieter, and it suits anyone who finds gold bridal sets too warm against their skin.
Pearls against darkened silver is also a softer pairing than pearls against gold. Neither surface is bright, so the two sit at a similar quietness and the contrast is only in warmth, not in glare.
Continuous pierced curves run the length of both necklaces, with no straight lines anywhere. It is what gives the set its flow and keeps a rigid band reading as ornament rather than as structure.
Set close along the lower edge of both pieces and falling more densely below each pendant. It is the main source of movement in an otherwise fixed design.
Both necklaces sit flat and close, the choker at the throat and the haar across the chest. A full bridal weight set, designed to be worn as a pair.
Silk sarees in cool colours — blues, greens, greys, plum — where a gold set would fight the fabric, and equally well with ivory, off white and black. No other necklace is needed.
The dark tone in antique silver is not tarnish left to happen; it is applied. Silver is treated so the surface blackens, then the raised areas are polished back so the dark remains only in the recesses. The result is that every engraved line and every pierced edge is outlined in shadow, which makes fine detail visible from several feet away — on bright polished silver the same pattern would disappear into reflections. It also means the finish improves rather than degrades with handling, since gentle wear brightens the high points and deepens the contrast. Cleaning it with a silver dip removes the effect entirely, which is why oxidised pieces should only be wiped with a dry cloth.
Never use a silver dip or polish, which strips the oxidised finish. Wipe only with a dry soft cloth and store flat in a pouch.
